Kaduna – administrative town

In 1956 Kaduna was established as the Capital territory of Northern Nogeria. This article describes the development of the town since Lugard’s decision when he returned from Hong Kong to take up appointment as Governor-general of Northern and Southern Nigeria in 1912, to transfer the capital of the Northern provinces from Zungeru to a site where the Lagos-Kano railway crosses the Kaduna River. The actual move of the capital from Zungeru was made in 1917. Photos.
