Apple MacBook Pro M2 Review

Apple's updated MacBook Pro features a fast M2 processor that takes your laptop to work, create and study to the next level. The recognizable style of the case, the proprietary Retina screen do not need improvement and remain the same.

Familiar design

A compact white cardboard box contains a 13" laptop, 2 m USB Type-C cable and 67W power adapter. Inside the box, the device lies in a special recess and is securely fixed. Design:

• Materials. Apple MacBook Pro in terms of design is no different from its predecessors. Nevertheless, the laptop looks status and modern. Housing made of lightweight aluminum, it has a matte surface with a slight metallic sheen, is pleasant to the touch and reliably protects internal components.
• Dimensions. The laptop is 1.56 cm thick with rounded corners and smooth edges. The weight of the device is 1.4 kg – it will not add weight when traveling and will easily fit into a small bag. The large trackpad makes work comfortable even without a mouse. On the left side of the case, there are two USB Type-C connectors for connecting external devices and charging.

Function keyboard

The keyboard is located in a small recess of the body and includes 66 keys. Thanks to the backlight on it, it is convenient to type text even in low light conditions. At the top is the Touch Bar for gesture control. The Touch ID button in the upper-right corner is aligned with the power button. It allows you to keep data on your computer safe without spending a lot of time entering a password – the laptop is unlocked with one touch of a finger.

Apple M2

The 2022 MacBook Pro 13” is powered by the new Apple M2 chipset. It includes 8- core CPU: four cores are responsible for high performance, the rest are for energy efficiency. The GPU is equipped with 10 cores, two more than the previous generation M1. The Neural Engine contains 16 cores. 

M2:

• RAM. The amount of RAM is 8 GB. Storage capacity of 512 GB allows you not to worry about transferring data to external drives – there is enough space on the device not only for work files. But also for a family archive of photos and videos, and even for a collection of favorite movies. 
• Work. The proposed filling makes the device work really fast. The resource of the Apple MacBook Pro is definitely enough for several years for designers, freelancers, students and business owners.

Cooling system

Impressive performance comes from more than just a powerful chipset. An advanced cooling system keeps the CPU and GPU operating at acceptable temperatures. This allows the Apple MacBook Pro 2022 to easily handle heavy applications and games and run smoothly.

Screen

The laptop features a 13.3-inch Apple Retina display with IPS technology. It supports millions of colors and shades and reproduces the image at a resolution of 2560×1600 pixels. The smooth screen is fingerprint resistant thanks to its oleophobic coating. Matrix MacBook Pro is dark, does not glare even when hit by directional light. The image on the screen is clear, bright and has sufficient contrast. True tone technology delivers true-to-life colors. The maximum display brightness is 510 cd/m2. In the dark, you can set the comfortable value of the parameter manually. For automatic adjustment, there is a light sensor next to the camera eye.

Sound

The laptop has wide dynamic range stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support. Three built-in microphones allow you to almost completely get rid of background noise during a call and make the sound clear and crisp.

Autonomy

The developers equipped the Apple MacBook Pro 13” with a capacious 58.2 Wh battery, which connects to the device via a USB Type-C connector. Battery life is up to 20 hours when reading or watching videos on Apple TV. With the maximum load of the chipset and high brightness, the battery lasts for a little more than five hours – these figures are noticeably higher, than previous generations and many current competitors.

Soft

MacBook Pro 2022 runs on Apple's proprietary macOS. With a pumped filling, it makes using a laptop convenient and helps effectively to solve everyday tasks. The OS offers a wide range of features for work and entertainment and a stylish, simple interface.  Many convenient applications are preinstalled on the device that allow you to start using it without additional preparation immediately after purchase: keep a calendar and take notes, write messages, take photos and videos, listen to music and podcasts, use the voice assistant Siri. Other apps can be installed through the Apple Store.

Additional Features

The model received an updated high-speed wireless module. It supports modern Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 standards. MacBook Pro traditionally provides a fast, stable connection and data transfer. It is convenient to have a 3.5 mm jack for connecting wired headphones. For video calls and streaming, a 720-pixel webcam is installed at the top of the screen, as in laptops of previous years.
